I realize this is a very old thread but the 4Gb Sandisk memory card is a 'high capacity' card that won't work with the old Alcor Micro USB 2.0 card reader. You need to use no higher than a 2Gb Sandisk memory card because the card reader's firmware can not handle 2gb+ memory cards. The card reader device will need a firmware update to recognize memory cards like 4Gb and greater but Alcor Micro hasn't release any new firmware versions for some old Alcor Micro USB 2.0 card reader devices.
